Resumen: En este trabajo se analizan sistemáticamente diversos estudios disponibles sobre enriquecimiento y condiciones de bienestar en gatos en cautividad, así como indicadores comportamentales de su estado mental en estas condiciones en distintas situaciones de enriquecimiento ambiental, a fin de identificar de manera crítica cuáles son los puntos clave a seguir por parte de los refugios que alojan gatos para mejorar su calidad de vida, evitando el estrés.
Paralelamente se realizó una encuesta a distintos centros, fundamentalmente protectoras, que alojaban gatos, recopilando datos sobre las condiciones de vida de sus animales, las medidas de enriquecimiento ambiental que aportaban los centros y cómo estas influían en el bienestar de sus animales mediante signos objetivamente medibles.
Abstract: This document systematically analyzes several available studies on enrichment and welfare conditions in captive cats, as well as behavioral indicators of their mental state in these conditions in different situations of environmental enrichment, in order to critically identify which are the key points to follow by the shelters that house cats to improve their quality of life, avoiding stress.
Subsequently, a survey is carried out in different centers, mainly protectors, that house cats, collecting data on the living conditions of their animals, the environmental enrichment measures they provide and how they influence the welfare of their animals through signs objectively measurable.
